BAYAN organizer and leftist scholar Joaquin Uy will lead a Walking Tour of Filipinx History in Seattle in the International District on Sunday, March 3rd. Uy’s tour will focus on local leaders, organizers, revolutionaries, authors, and martyrs from the Filipinx community and their relationship to this historic neighborhood, block by block, from the turn of the century to today. The tour provides an opportunity to learn about the current and critical movement to stop the killings in the Philippines ( We’ll meet at Eastern Hotel, 506 1/2 Maynard Ave S (Maynard & King) at 12:45am. The tour will begin at 1pm, SHARP!

DONATIONS: We ask that you make a donation to BAYAN for hosting and leading the tour. We suggest a donation of $10-$35, or any amount that feels meaningful for you. Donations can be made with cash, check or credit card. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Your donation will fund the work of Filipinxs in Seattle and the Philippines doing community organizing for social justice.

ACCESS: *PLEASE EXPECT TO WALK AND STAND FOR ROUGHLY 2 (TWO) HOURS.* There are some steep inclines, and folks who use wheelchairs can do the tour. *WE ASK THAT YOU DO NOT WEAR SCENTED OR FRAGRANCED PRODUCTS (e.g. perfume, hair products, essential oils) the day of the event in order to make the event accessible to those with chemical injury or multiple chemical sensitivity. TRANSIT AND PARKING: The tour will begin in the International District/Chinatown at the Eastern Hotel (506 1/2 Maynard Ave S). Street parking is free on Sundays, but may be difficult to find so please plan accordingly. There is a pay lot underneath the I-5 overpass off of Jackson. Many bus routes and the light rail are easily accessible in the area and at the International District Station.
