The economic crisis of 2008 resulted in devastation for many working people, including layoffs, foreclosures, and crises in funding for social services.  Since then, there has been a weak recovery, but the conditions for most people have hardly improved.  Meanwhile, the potential for another world economic crisis looms in the future.

This week’s discussion will examine the state of the world economy today and what it means for building the left.  We recommend reading World Economy: The Return of Crisis by Joel Geier and Lee Sustar from the most recent issue of the International Socialist Review for background to this discussion.

We will also devote some of our meeting time to discussing our local organizing.
