Pike & Summit
• What we’ll do
Sponsored by Seattle Solidarity Network
What: A group demand delivery for a new fight, demanding unpaid wages and stolen tips from a major temp agency that’s been robbing workers all over the country
When/Where: Gather at 10am on Thursday February 1st, at the corner of Pike & Summit in Capitol Hill. From there we’ll carpool to the company’s offices just outside of Seattle.
Our newest member, Karim, is one of many workers who have been severely and repeatedly shorted on hourly pay by a nationwide temp agency that recently set up shop in Seattle. He’s also earned a substantial amount in credit-card tips while serving customers at events, and the temp agency has kept every penny.
The company recruits aggressively on the street in Pioneer Square, in the middle of the main concentration of homeless services, seeking workers who will be unable to stand up for themselves. The internet is full of reports from all over the country of people working for this company and not getting paid.
Please join Karim and SeaSol on Thursday February 1st in marching into their offices to demand full payment of all hours and tips. This company is used to getting away with robbing people. They assume that lowly temp workers have no power. Let’s show them that all workers have power, because we have solidarity.
Meetup is at 10am, at the corner of Pike & Summit in Capitol Hill. From there we’ll carpool to the company’s offices. We ought to be done and back at the meetup spot by 12:30 at the latest.
If you have a vehicle, please bring it! Gas money will be available for those willing to help drive others to Renton and back.
