The Seattle City Council will soon start considering legislation to tax large businesses like Amazon, raising $75 million per year for deeply affordable housing, shelter and services.
Come learn about the proposed measure and weigh in! Speakers include:
– Kirsten Harris-Talley, activist and community co-chair of the Progressive Revenue Task Force
– Councilmember Lisa Herbold
And more to be announced soon!
We hope Councilmember Bruce Harrell will also be joining us.
Last year over 8,500 people were counted homeless in Seattle, and over 22,000 low-income households were “severely rent-burdened” – paying over half their income in rent and utilities. Seattle can’t effectively address the homelessness crisis without a massive new investment in deeply affordable housing.
Housing For All is urging the City to find at least $150 million per year in progressive revenue to create new housing, shelter and services – including at least $75 million through a tax on large businesses like Amazon. Join us!
