We have a demand delivery coming up for our new fight this next Tueaday, April 17.
Workers at a janitorial contractor at SeaTac Airpor are facing a serious issue: the company is listing employer-paid health benefits as part of their Gross Income. This means that services workers normally have access to, like low income housing and childcare, believe they are making more money than they actually are, putting them at risk of losing their housing among other issues. Workers are also worried that they may be overcharged on their taxes.
Despite months of hearing these complaints the company has been unwilling to take the steps needed to rectify the situation, only admitting that it is a problem and claiming they are “working on it.” Because of this several workers have come to SeaSol for help!
We will show community support in demanding that the company remove Health and Welfare from the gross income on employee pay stubs, and bring the issue to airport management as well
What: A Demand Delivery action
When: Tuesday, April 17, meeting at 11am
Where: We will meet at the bottom of the escalators at the SeaTac Airport light rail station, near the entrance to the parking garage
