In June 2017, Seattle’s Charleena Lyles’ life was taken by SPD. For Charleena: Amplifying Black Womxn’s Voice is a two-part series designed to center and uplift the voices of Black womxn artists, who will use music, dance, poetry, fashion, painting, storytelling, teaching and more to speak back to injustice and honor a life taken too soon.

Saturday, June 9th:
Wellness Workshops
(stay tuned for more information)

Suggested donation of $10 . No one turned away for lack of funds. A portion of artists’ and vendors’ proceeds will be gifted to the Lyles family, and donations to Delridge Neighborhoods Development Assn. will help offset costs of event and space at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.

This event is a collaboration between artist Wynn Adele and Youngstown’s Erika Bell, and was inspired by Wynn’s piece ‘For Charleena’, on display now at Youngstown.

Guest parking is provided in the 54-stall lot on the North side of the building. Guest parking is prohibited in the residential lot on the East (back) side of the building. Unauthorized vehicles parked in this area will be towed at owner’s expense. More parking on Delridge Way SW, with access through SW entrance. ADA accessible.

Youngstown Cultural Arts Center is fully ADA accessible, including ramping and elevators for people with special mobility needs.

Kids art activities will be offered from 2-6 pm
